Diego Piñera has been nominated several times both internationally and nationally as a drummer ‘instrumentalist’ and as a songwriter since 2005. Born in Montevideo, he took part in jam sessions at the age of three and later studied at the University of Music in Havana and at Berklee College. His album ‘My Picture’ was described as a ‘masterpiece by one of the most interesting drummers of our time’. Diego Piñera establishes his style here, a combination of ‘odd metres’, crooked beats and melodic drumset entries.
